knowing you, i dunno. have you seen Jules et Jim, didn't you hate it? I liked it much better a second time.
I would recommend 400 blows, because everyone likes it but I don't but you may, but only if you don't mind films about (naught little boy) children.

um the man who loved women is a new favorite.

i don't know maybe you'd like antoine et colette, because it's short, black & white, and moving.

and if you want to stick to the one with isabelle adjani, watch The Story of Adele H. It's not the best, but it's decent, and didn't you or someone say they wanted to watch everything w/isabelle adjani? Oh yes, that WAS you. *woot*

i should rewatch the soft skin. i hated it and didn't realize Francoise Dorleac was in it (Catherine Deneuve's less-beautiful but first-famous sister).

Thanks.

I guess its time I tried Jules et Jim again. I'll see these other two as well (along with maybe the 400 Blows and antoine et colette if I have time).

I might try the wild child as well, it would go along with my interest in feral children.

What happened to James Benning. :shake:

I guess I'll be rewatching alot of these. Haven't seen A Gorgeous Kid like Me or the Antoine short. Curious to see how I rank these this time around. Currently:

1. Shoot the Piano Player
2. The 400 Blows
3. The Wild Child

The Top 2 are 10s. Also curious to see if the original version of Two English Girls is available. The version I saw was choppy.

This guy is good, in my formative years I was proud to proclaim him superior to Godard
He probably wouldn't be in my list of ten favorite French directors now, but perhaps this month will change it. I never found much past the top two to go wild over, and the last couple I saw were awfully disappointing.

10 Jules et Jim
9 The Last Metro
9 The 400 Blows
8 The Bride Wore Black
8 The Soft Skin
7.5 Une histoire d'eau
6 The Story of Adele H
5 Two English Girls

Excited about this MoM! *bounce* Especially Day For Night, Stolen Kisses etc, Shoot the Piano Player, and rewatching Last Metro on the Crit DVD.

Doesn't everyone have someone in their friend group who's the lovable loser, not very clever or capable, but good-natured and fun to have around? That's the place I see for Francois among the Cahiers group (comparatively).

I'm going to finally read Hitchcock/Truffaut this month :righteous:

Oh yes! I remember seeing those when I was obsessed with that blog but never read/listened to them thoroughly. Thank you for reminding me about it. This will be great.

(Might want to work that link into the curation page, editors)
