On the whole, this one really doesn’t work, but it has its bright spots. The original play was a success and it’s adapted here by Mankiewicz, but so much of the dialogue falls flat. Joanie does all right with the comedy, though she’s not a natural. Robert has a shower scene. Clark Gable beats her with a hairbrush. 
Poor Ros Russell, wasted in an early bit part.
