With this, it’s somewhat plain that I just don’t get Tanner on any level. “Got” much less of this than Salamandre. It is probably not right to express any opinion for (or rate) a film I cannot penetrate or connect to at all. I mean: I get more out of films I hate. I am able to hate them because I can grasp them to the extent that I know loathing exists, and is justified. And perversely, I could even say I “like” films I “hate” more than a baffling oddity like this, which rollicks along in a decidedly pleasant manner but somehow ultimately left me with no impression. The rating is just a placeholder. I need to read things about Tanner.
